Pictures I wish I had

Pictures I wish I had is an installation about real, imagined and mytical events that happened to me. The representation of me as an individual, an identity, is both revealed and absent, projected and stripped. The pictures frames, focused lighting, antique furniture and wall treatment combine to defy a sense of place and time.

The nondescript, vacuum formed frames are devoid of images, their size the only clue to their content. Focused light is trained on the inside of the frame, where the image would have been. The antique furniture, drawing from the time period of the space, emphasizes the domestic setting implied by the placement of the frames on the walls. Facing a couch and coffee table several frames mimic a mantelpiece arrangement. A band across the walls has been stripped and reveals the gypsum walls and their history.
